I recently saw a wonderful example of how data visualization technologies are helping us in all industries and particularly more recently in the research of new and more effective, targeted drugs. See the BBC's item on Scientists expose HIV weak spot.

A recent Nielsen/ NetRatings survey showed that "people are buying cutting-edge technology but often don't understand the terms that describe what their device actually does."
So even if many of "us" might believe that words such as RSS or VoIP are understood by everyone, that would be very narrow sighted indeed. What you can not miss is a good Copyeditor that helps translate your intentions for a system into language that users will comprehend. Otherwise, all your beautiful features will simply overload a users mind and they will not be useable.
And here the link to the BBC news item: Geekspeak still baffles web users

I am aware that this link to the video on multiple point touch interfaces has been posted in a couple of other spots on the net but I'd still like to spread the word further with this post of mine.
Take a look first

And don't you have to agree that this is way cooler than 'Minority Report'? Because it's out there, right now! And also because there must be companies that plan to launch products to incorporate such advancements in touchpoint technology. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those machines. MacRumors has a couple of posts such as this one on the possibility of Apple releasing just one of those wunder-machines.
